The school of car drivers – speedboat drivers of Ilias Tsamaslis was founded in 1998. It is based in Thessaloniki at 12 Archaeological Museum Street.
It has a classroom with comfortable rooms and modern teaching aids (computers for each student with special programs of the curriculum of the books and questionnaires for quick and correct learning under the guidance of Elias Tsamasli and John).
You can even find detailed information on all the procedures and documents required for the issuance of all types of diplomas.
Our activities include everything concerning the car and the boat. The vehicles at the school’s disposal are all new (motorcycles, passenger cars, trucks, buses, vans).
The examinations for obtaining a licence to operate a speedboat are conducted by the Central Port Authority of Thessaloniki. The committee is composed of three Officers of the LSS. Initially, candidates are examined in the theoretical test and are required to answer a 20-question multiple-choice questionnaire.
Successful candidates are those who answer 18 questions correctly. All questions are included in the handbook distributed free of charge by our school to candidates. Afterwards, and after the success in the theoretical test has been certified, the practical test on board follows. This tests the candidate’s ability to carry out side, stern, sail and bow handling operations.
Candidates are also tested in chart reading, position finding, course finding, compass use, use of the compass, use of life-saving and fire-fighting equipment and nautical knots (cantilena, cudgel, cross-bow, cross-bow). It is noted that foreigners participate in the examinations under the same terms and conditions as Greeks. If they do not know Greek, they will be examined in the presence of a certified professional translator in the language of their choice.
